No Tie
The origins of the No Tie Dinner and Dessert Party (fondly known as No Tie) trace back to the inspiring vision of Don Maison, the retired CEO of AIDS Services of Dallas (ASD). Maison sought to create an alternative to the conventional fundraising gala—one that was casual, yet deeply rooted in personal connections and a shared dedication to a vital cause. With the support of Board Chair Dennis Kershner and his husband John, this vision came to life in the form of an extraordinary dining experience. Hosts across the city opened their homes for intimate dinners, fostering community, unity, and purpose in support of ASD’s mission.
The night culminates in the extravagant dessert party at the Frontiers of Flight Museum, a vibrant celebration that brings together guests from all walks of life. This grand finale has become a beloved tradition, drawing as many as 1,500 attendees at its peak. No Tie has grown to be not only a signature fundraising event for ASD but also a cornerstone of Dallas’ social and philanthropic scene—reminding us all of the power of coming together for a cause greater than ourselves.
