Resilience & Triumph

The story of ASD is one of challenge and triumph.

Our Rich History

"Together, we create a community where everyone has the opportunity to heal, grow, and live with the security and care they deserve."

Today, ASD is the largest provider of housing for people with HIV/AIDS. Our vision is to expand our housing for marginalized, underserved and low-income individuals that include those needing support for mental health and substance use.  We continue to broaden and expand care for compromised individuals and families with children though our Service Enriched Housing Program. This includes medical and social case management, outreach support and guidance meetings, health and wellness support services, short term rent, mortgage and utility assistance, nutritional support services and complimentary transportation services to medical appointments.

Our President and CEO Traswell C. Livingston III, is a true visionary, seeking alternative solutions for safe and affordable housing for all people. He is an active and prominent leader in the Dallas Oak Cliff Community, spearheading a variety of initiatives for housing first programs, serving the urgent needs in unmet housing.

As the demand continues to grow within the region, the future of ASD is bright. In 2025, we are embarking on a new project that will increase our capacity to serve additional homeless individuals and families with children, regardless of medical history, race, ethnicity, gender, age, ore financial incapacity. This project will be called Braniff, where we will renovate an existing, historical structure, and convert it into a beautiful, multi-unit building. We of course will continue to look to our generous corporate sponsors, donors and foundations to help make this vision a reality. With a shared passion and commitment to the work we do and the services we provide, we can bring a more hopeful future to hundreds of lives.
